WCBL Postseason Recaps: August 13th

West Division

(2) Lethbridge Bulls vs (1) Okotoks Dawgs |  3 – 4

Dawgs Win Series 2 – 1

The Okotoks Dawgs are moving on to the Western Canadian Baseball League Finals after a 4-3 victory over the Lethbridge Bulls.

Brandon Desjardins started for the Dawgs, tossing five innings of three-hit ball, striking out four, before Justin Hammergren came in relief to finish things off as he pitched four innings of work, allowing only two hits, striking out seven.

Dawgs designated hitter, William Hollis crushed a double in the win, finishing the ballgame 2-3 with a walk and an RBI.

Okotoks will play the winner of the East Division Final which features the Regina Red Sox and Swift Current 57’s, with Game One beginning Thursday, August 15th.

East Division

(1) Regina Red Sox vs (2) Swift Current 57’s |  2 – 4

Series Tied 1 – 1

The Swift Current 57’s tied the East Division Finals after defeating the Regina Red Sox 4-2, forcing a deciding third game which will be played Wednesday, August 14th at 7:05PM in Regina.

Zachary Patterson was the starter for the 57’s as he dominated Red Sox batters for 7 1/3 innings, allowing only three hits while striking out six. Garrett Alexander came in relief of Patterson in the eighth to finish things off as he allowed only one hit, striking out two to earn the save.
