WCBL Players of the Week for Week Three

The Western Canadian Baseball League has released the players of the week for week three of the season (June 17th – 23rd).
Okotoks Dawgs infielder, Liam Rihela has been named the WCBL Hitter of the Week after posting 10 hits, 10 runs scored, three homers, seven RBI’s and an OPS of 1.633. It’s the second time in two weeks that an Okotoks Dawg player has been named the Hitter of the Week after Tristan Peters won it a week ago.
The honourable mention for Hitter of the Week has been handed to Max Hewitt of the Fort McMurray Giants after he collected nine hits, five runs scored, two homers, three RBI and an OPS of 1.734.
WCBL Pitcher of the Week has been handed to Nick Garcia of the Brooks Bombers after giving his team an outstanding start on June 22nd against the Fort McMurray Giants where he threw a complete game shutout, allowing only five hits, striking out three. Garcia finished the week with 10 innings pitched, four strikeouts, a 0.5 WHIP and an opponent batting average of .152.
The honourable mention was given to Michael Borst of the Moose Jaw Miller Express, who was the WCBL Hitter of the Week for week one of the season. The two-way star threw 10 innings in a game against the Melville Millionaires, striking out seven, and finishing the night off with a 0.4 WHIP and a .091 opponent batting average.
