The Regina Red Sox will meet the Okotoks Dawgs in the Western Canadian Baseball League Finals after Regina defeated the Swift Current 57’s 2-0 on Wednesday.
Michael Batten tossed a complete game shutout for the Red Sox in a dominating performance where he only allowed four hits, while striking out 13. Batten was the easy choice for this deciding game as he is set to claim WCBL Pitcher of the Year after winning the ‘Triple Crown’ where he lead the league in ERA, strikeouts and wins.
The Red Sox will receive home field advantage in the best-of-three final series after finishing with the leagues best record, as game one is set to take place Thursday at 7:05PM at Currie Field. Game two will then be played in Okotoks on Friday at Seaman Stadium, with game three heading back to Regina on Saturday if necessary.
