The Okotoks Dawgs are the 2019 WCBL Champions

The Okotoks Dawgs are your 2019 Western Canadian Baseball League Champions after defeating the Regina Red Sox in Game Two of their three-game series with an amazing comeback effort.

Down by one run in the bottom of the eighth, the Dawgs blasted things open, scoring four runs to take a three-run run lead over the Red Sox, eventually leading to their victory and WCBL Championship Title.

Tanner Simpson started things off for the Dawgs, tossing the first six innings of the ballgame as he struck out three and allowed three runs, before three different pitchers came in to finish things off.

Galen Manhard was the next man up, as he came in relief with a 4-3 lead to only see that fall apart after allowing two runs. Dan Ferrario pitched a clean 1, 2, 3 eighth inning, keeping things close as the game got nerve-racking near the end of the night, until the Dawgs opened things up, scoring four in the bottom of the eighth.

Brandon Desjardins came in to toss the final inning as he shut the Red Sox down to give the Dawgs their first Championship victory since 2009.

Dawgs outfielder, Tristan Peters was named WCBL Playoff MVP after batting .313 with two doubles and four RBI’s, dominating the postseason as he helped his team in a major way to earn the title.
